Paithani is a silk saree from Maharashtra, named after the town of Paithan in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) district on the Godavari, which was once the capital of the Satavahana dynasty.
The Banarasi saree is woven in and around Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, one of the oldest brocade centres in India.
